Peer review process

The " Khatulistiwa Journal of Laboratory, Public Health, and Occupational Health " employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process for all submitted scientific manuscripts. This means that the identity of both the reviewer and the author remains concealed throughout the evaluation process.

  1. Peer reviews are conducted by esteemed members of the journal's editorial board, along with renowned experts in relevant fields from around the world. These experts are carefully selected by the Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, or Science Editor, ensuring the highest standards of expertise and impartiality. The review process is designed to be efficient, with a targeted timeframe of 2-5 weeks. However, flexibility is maintained to accommodate reviewers' schedules when necessary.
  2. Reviewers are expected to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could compromise their objectivity in assessing the manuscript. After thorough evaluation, reviewers present the editorial board with one of the following recommendations:
a.

Accept the manuscript without revisions.

b.

Advise the author to revise the manuscript based on specific concerns before a final decision is made.

c.

Suggest further review by another specialist before a final decision is reached.

d.

Reject the manuscript.

  1. In the case of suggested revisions, the author is provided with the opportunity to address the reviewers' feedback. Authors are encouraged to submit their revised manuscripts within a maximum of 2 months for final evaluation.
  2. Should an author decide to withdraw their manuscript from consideration, prompt notification to the editor is appreciated. If an author fails to communicate their decision within 3 months of receiving initial review feedback, the manuscript is removed from the editorial register and the author is informed.
  3. In instances where authors and reviewers have conflicting opinions on revisions, the Editor-in-Chief takes on the responsibility of resolving the dispute.
  4. The editorial board makes the final decision regarding manuscript acceptance based on reviewers' recommendations. A positive review does not guarantee acceptance, as the editorial board has the ultimate authority in this regard. Original reviews of submitted manuscripts are archived for a period of 5 years.
  5. Upon acceptance for publication, authors are notified of the scheduled publication date. It is important to note that the final decision rests with the editorial board, and the Editor-in-Chief's authority is pivotal in conflict resolution.
  6. In line with transparency, copies of reviews are shared with the Ministry of Education and Science for admission upon request.
  7. This comprehensive peer review process upholds the journal's commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of published content, fostering a platform for robust scholarly discourse in the fields of laboratory sciences, public health, and occupational health.
